Industry report

Last year I led a research project that explored audience perceptions of their local news outlet's newspaper and news website. The printed version of the final report was delivered in January this year.

This project was initiated and funded by an independent news organisation in regional Australia, which shows that the local media sector is turning to Deakin University to conduct independent expert research to help inform their decision making.

In a novel approach, one of the surveys in this project was hand delivered with a free newspaper to residents living in new housing estates.

The findings from this project will help this local news organisation plan for a sustainable future, one where they can continue to provide important news and information that is relevant to their local audience.
