Government submission

The Australian Government is looking for ways to bet support public interest journalism and media diversity. With Deakin colleagues, I contributed to a submission to the government's News Media Assistance Program (NewsMAP) in February this year.

The submission outlines our suggestion that governments should better support news providers that are best situated to deliver essential information needs, and this should be gauged by the news providers' physical, cultural and social proximity in relation to the places they purport to serve.

Our submission also argues Availability, Reliability, Relevance and Originality should be key indicators of news access.
